A real miss there are no off the shelf RAF decals for this out there - i know Luuk Boerman has some very nice Dutch ones from Dutch Decal - and there are some danish ones - but  no RAF aftermarket means no one expected it so soon i suppose.

I think Dutch Decals are going to be releasing an RAF sheet - they had the work on one all done under their Kits At War offshoot http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/50367-32nd-mainstream-meteor-f4/ - and possibly a Belgian sheet.

Thanks for the link, I forgot about them. They have quite a few interesting subjects in 1/32, and that multi-color camo would look pretty nice on a Meteor.

Nice review Kev, and I agree completely that HK has struck a healthy balance between detail and simplicity. I like also that this kits definitely fills a niche in our aviation history. The Aussies were allowed to fly these right?

Last I had heard, probably around $80-90USD once it's released. So a pretty good deal for a 1/32 Meteor. Got to check out a test shot earlier in the month, and it looks great. Interior could use some detail, but should be fine painted black.  The surface detail is very good, and should look great when painted up.

Just received the latest parts update from HK Models, so I thought I'd share a few photos with you. Firstly here's the updated belly tank:

 

 

Old one on the left, revised one on the right. A significant difference!

 

Here's the small extra sprue for the wing nacelle inserts:

 

 

A couple of antennas are also included, though I can't tell you what exactly they're for.

 

There's also a revised clear parts sprue:

 

 

The shape of the windscreen has been subtly modified (new part on top):

 

 

 

The top frame is also much more clearly defined. Old:

Lastly, here's a photo of the 1/144 bonus Meteor that comes with the kit:

 

 

How cute is that? I don't know if decals will be supplied for it, or if anything suitable is available in the aftermarket, but it's a nice little addition nonetheless.

 

I plan to start a build thread on the kit soon.
