Tigger Models Banshee

Hi Guys,

I am just starting to gather material for building a McDonnell Banshee and while looking at the seat in the Ginter book on the aircraft, I wondered if there was a seat in 1/32 that if not the same at least close enough to modify into the one used in the Banshee.

Would anyone be able to shed some light on the subject for me?

Thanks,

Ted

Ted,

I recently purchased this kit from Tigger models. Among may challenges that I forsee the bang seat is one of the biggest. I am very interested in whatever you find out.

I have access to the Banshee at the air museum at MCAS Miramar. Although it is a F2H-2 it has many features in common with the latter marks. Let me know if you would need any photos.

For many things McDonnell, you might find more than just a few things of interest on Ron Downey's blog.

There are top notch references such as http://aviationarchives.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/f2h-1-station-diagrams.html

You'll have to check for yourself what you need as there are hundreds of posts going back to 2012.

Tommy Thomason's blogs are also well worth a look: http://tailspintopics.blogspot.co.uk   and  http://tailhooktopics.blogspot.co.uk

Thanks for the info Dan and Chek,

I'll let you know, Dan, if I find some stuff that would help us both.  I talked many years ago with Doug Feeney who originally worked up the moulds for the Banshee under the ID Models label.  He always said that he provided the canvas for us to work on...lol

I will start looking through the sites you provided over the next short while Chek.  Thanks!

Thanks DeanKB,

I'd forgotten that there was a Squadron Signal book.  I'll have to check Amazon and purchase a copy.

I've looked at Paul Fisher's Panther and Cougar seats in photos on his website and they look similar, so that might be a good place for basic size when I start scratching up the seat.
