jig stands any big benefit?

Uh yes, and a HUGE yes!

I have one of these stands and Ive nearly worn mine out from bouts of paint spraying, glues and what not. Ive used mine on every single build Ive had in the past few years including my 13.75 Oz F7F fuselage. Super flexible and adaptable, I dont think you will regret in the LEAST purchasing one of these! Although I have the 4801 model which is quite a bit smaller than the one you have shown, but I plan on getting a 3201 model very soon.

Purchasing mine has been one of the best modeling decisions Ive made to date. Go for it, you wont be sorry!

I have the 3201 model and it's fantastic.  It's used continuously once the fuselage is put together.  Makes it easy to apply decals, all the small bits and pieces, ordnance, and weathering.  I don't use my with my spray booth (i use a tamiya turntable) .  It's a great addition to my work bench.

Can't agree more with Brian and Simon, jigs are an absolute MUST for me. I bought 2 "1/48th" scale jigs some years ago, one for biplanes t'other for monoplanes and I've used both extensively, most recently with my 1/32 Bf110E. They provide a stability which is essential especially if you've already fitted the undercarriage.

I just recently got one, they are quite helpful and reduce the amount of time i spend making my own jigs for assembly.

Plus I use it as a stand for finished work to take the load off landing gear

I think I'll try to make one, since I'm not about to pay 50 bucks + for it.

I thought the same before purchasing mine.......

I did make one that worked, but not nearly as well as the JH stand. It worked, but in the end, when acquiring the base parts, screws for adjustment then all the time and effort I put into it, I had nearly 3/4s of what I would have paid for the JH stand.

I also started thinking about the cost of the JH stand.........

I have in the past paid WAY more for things that I got 0 use out of, and when looking back and figuring out that I use this stand nearly every SINGLE time I do modeling, it became painfully obvious that the cost of the stand is well worth it when I consider how well it works, and how often I use it, as well as the fact that I have spent way more than $50 USD for AM for a kit alone, not figuring in the cost of an LSP kit itself.

I just recently bough the large JH stand after being a hold out for a year or so of LSP modeling. I kept thinking, "surely I can or I will make my own"  ( a particular problem for the scratchbuilder).  But  recently when I was looking for this supposed  DIY stand on my bench, it was evident I was not thinking this all the way through. My beloved Bearcat was still nesting in the old cardboard box I built for the Fury. So I put pride aside, told myself to shut up, and ordered one.

Oddly , the plastic one is less expensive  http://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/product_info.php?cPath=21_162&products_id=7043

...and much easier to construct. I have it and the wooden biplane stand.

The wooden one took me an hour just to punch out the parts (carefully ,

didn't want to crack the wood ) and stick together.    :hmmm:
