So does anyone else her think we need help with the LSP addiction?

I am sitting here thinking about what kit I want to build next, I realized that in the last 30 days I have bought a lot of plastic. Last night, after my wife went to sleep, I went to my "stash" closet and was looking through my kits for a quickie project. I started opening boxes, fondling plastic, I even found a few pieces of AM I forgot I bought and stashed in the box. I then realized that I have quite a few kits. If I count everything including 1/72 and sci-fi BSG and SW stuff, I have over a hundred kits in my stash. So why is it that I still have a need to buy more kits? I must be off my rocker because I bought some more just recently.

Here is a list of what I bought since mid December:

Model 339C/D Buffalo, Special Hobby 1:32
P-40E Warhawk, Hasegawa 1:32
Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat, Trumpeter 1:32
F9F-8 Cougar, Fisher Model & Pattern 1:32
F-80C Shooting Star, Czech Model 1:32
Lockheed T-33A Shooting Star, Czech Model 1:32
Messerschmitt Me-163B "Komet", Meng Model 1:32
Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc, Fly 1:32
MiG-15 bis Fighter, Trumpeter 1:32
Mikoyan MiG-17PF, Trumpeter 1:32
F-86F Sabre Jet "Skyblazers", Italeri 1:32
King Tiger Sd.Kfz.182 Porsche Turret, Takom 1:35
P-47D Thunderbolt (Gabreski), Hasegawa 1:32
Republic F-84G Thunderjet, Hobby Boss 1:32
Sopwith Pup RFC, Wingnut Wings 1:32
Colonial Viper MkII, Moebius Models 1:32
Fokker E.V, Avis Models 1:32

And this does not include all the AM that I bought for each of these.

I start to wonder if I need therapy, better self control, is there is a problem I need to address... or do I need to build more kits, and faster. What do you guys think? Am I crazy?

Id have to go over my .xls sheet that covers all of my stash in its entirety including, 32nd kits, "other scale" kits , 32nd AM, "other AM" and finally decals and documentation...................

Dont feel too bad, Last I checked the 32nd aircraft tab was somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 - 100 lines long, my AM list was 50 - 75 lines long and decals and documentation was in the 20s or 30s.

Its my hobby, and my passion. I figure we could be out spending much more and to get much less in return.

Not LSP's as such, but model hoarding in particular, yes. Between aircraft (all scales), armor (several scales), ships, sci-fi & real space, cars & trucks, as well as some large scale figures, I have way too much stuff, and they're spread out all over the place, and yet I always seem to want more.

I do have too much stuff in the stash, but then I could have spent that money on golf or liquor, or even rock and roll concerts and have nothing by memories, and not even those, in some of the cases. I still have many of my brain cells and some of my hearing, but no tan and too little exercise. However, I could get a pretty good return if I sell the good stuff (WNW) and maybe move the rest of the kits at a loss.

Even more scary is how much it all cost us!!

I have around 300 kits at an average price of maybe £50 per kit...............no, I daren't think about it for too long.

Plus AM and my very large decal collection and paints, books etc it all works out to a big chunk of money!!!!

However, if I spent my money on another hobby like golf over the same amount of years I think it would work out a lot more than that.

Why do we do it? 'Cos it makes us happy dear friends.

If all else fails do what the wife does.................go SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!

Happy days.  :P

Its nice to know that I have common company. Now when those 5 kits I bought this last week show up on the doorstep, I need to think of something to tell the wife....

Things I think about saying when the wife gives me the " another model?" look:

It's cheaper and safe than hookers...

Back in the day I could have drank that away in a weekend...

Do I complain every time you get your hair and nails done?...

... to name the nicest of them...

I only have about 40 kits. I only have a few that are on my " must have" list. Most of those are either not for sale yet, or WNW hopefuls. I stood in my LHS the other day trying to find a kit I actually really wanted. They didn't have anything that was jumping out at me, but the Gift Card I had was approaching it's expiration date. I went safe and bought another 109.

But yeah... shopping is fun!

This topic and behavior is a wveery complicated rascally rabbit. Many model build threads have come and gone with no real explanation and Forget a solution. Just be happy. Buy a bunch, sell a few, build as many as you can and share with friends and plan who gets what after you pass on.
