USAF T-33A

I have just got hold of the Squadron/Czechmodel kit and I fancy finishing it in USAF markings. The kit markings - on an ADG grey paint job - are a bit boring in my mind and I'd like something pretty colourful, but not Thunderbirds colourful but colourful and as I only intend to build one of these, its got to be good! Having looked for decals there doesn't seem to be much around right now. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Many thanks

Simon

Why not one of the drop-dead gorgeous 48th FIS Shooting Stars?

Sheer T-33A eleganza.

SuperScale decals available here:

Just had a look - only 2 USAF markings, no that won't do. I have the Squadron P-80 at War volume and that has hardly anything in it about the T-33 so I'm scratching around for something which must have been extremely common. Maybe I can just use a sheet of appropriate serials and buzz numbers and then find a squadron badge for one side of the fin or maybe a TAC badge but I would have thought there might have been something more colourful more readily available, decal-wise?

Thanks for the input guys. No, I am adamant that I will build a USAF bird but I'm really surprised that marking options have not been done to death by the likes of Microscale, Cutting Edge, Eaglecals to name but a few. Maybe they were when the kit was released but I'm seeing no evidence.

Given how many T-33's were produced, even though its a limited run kit, I would have thought most 1/32nd modelers, especially State-side, would have at least one? No doubt SH will release it periodically forever so I would expect the might of Microscale - who have done 1/72nd sheets - would almost feel obliged to make sure that something is always available. Don't you produce decals Jennings?

FYI, Caracal released beautiful schemes including the very nice TEXAS ANG one.

It's a lovely set. Have a copy on standby here.

The little planes were sometimes used as "intruders" so could carry ECM pods underwing. Gerry Asher was working on some bits at one time.

Thanks Tony, this is what LSP is for - some proper exchanges of opinions and sources. Its a nice kit though and I am very lucky because mine came with True Details gear bays, AMS flaps and basic cockpit. I will have to work out what bits of the kit photo etch can be used with the AMS bits.
