Cool.

 

Seems like it would have been easier to do with a model rocket engine. The real one was a rocket, after all.

 

 

Plus it was quarter (1/4th) scale. SUBSTANTIALLY too big for the largest model rocket motor Ive ever seen.   I think the main reason he did it with one of the new gen pulse jet type engines is it flamed up and then out similar to the real rocket motor, but with less danger and no actual mixing of chemicals.

That's a very good idea, especially given that liquid rocket fuels are either cryogenic, or unbelievably toxic and stupidly dangerous. Solid fuels are only slightly less dangerous.

If you play around with any of that stuff, remember that it is rocket science. But it can be made to work...
