Masterkit 757

Well, this makes the 4th model I've finished in about the last 2 weeks or so, which is unprecedented for me! That said, these models have been lurking around for months, so I'm really just clearing the bench. This particular kit is the Masterkit Boeing 757, and is among the worst I've ever built. It's not so much that it's difficult, just really poor - inaccurate, under-scale, poorly detailed, amazingly thick plastic. And I've got Eric Galliers to thank for it!

Anyway, I built it wheels-up and stuck it on a token base:

I downloaded a United Airlines logo for the base, but it turned out to be a different design to the one on the kit decals. I don't know anything about United Airlines, so I have no idea why that is.

That's all, folks!

Thanks, Dan. No other airliners in progress at the moment, though there are plenty in the stash! I just wanted to clear the bench for the return of the Fw 190S project, and this was really the last obstacle. I'm trying not to start any other projects until I can at least make some decent headway with the long-neglected Focke-Wulf.

The 757 in UA colors looks great on the base and what a job considering how poor, no bad the kit was. Glad you took it to task and won the battle

Thanks, fellas. Apart from the work involved in actually getting it together and ready for paint, I have to say that I didn't put a lot of effort into this one. The wings, tailplanes and engines were all pinned with brass rod, and I chose to put it on a stand because the landing gear was just a collection of irredeemable plastic blobs. I didn't even bother to fair the engine pylons in, as it meant more work and delays than I wanted. Apart from the primer, I actually got all the paint on in a single afternoon! It looks OK as a shelf-sitter/decal carrier.

I do have both the Minicraft and Welsh 757 kits in the stash, so they'll make interesting comparisons when the time comes.
