nichenson
Has anyone bought the Profimodeller gear set? It is aluminum and would provide a bit of extra support. I am curious though if the length is correct or close to correct.
Dennis7423
In looking at the parts on the Profimodeller website, they look to be about the same length as the kit oleos. - Dennis S. Thornton, CO USA
Darren Howie
Looking at the kit parts if you wanted to shorten them to represent something more like the maintenance manual or represent a heavy load i think the easiest way would be use a saw and replace the kit strut with aluminium tube. Be careful the kit weighs a ton and if you go that way you may weaken the axle join on the lower gear leg. You may also get away with sawing out say a 1mm slice inserting wire reinforcement and that may be a better option. The kit isnt off spec by much at all and a quick look around at WW2 B-17 pics shows many non standard strut lengths. If you cut the gear leg be careful with such a big kit.
