Horten 11/21 - She's got legs...

Well, the kit's been out a couple of weeks now. Why am I not seeing a plethora of WIP builds? I promised myself I would wait, but...

I'm building this one OOB.

Tough to see, but I put a tiny drop of PVA glue at as many attachment points between lower and upper framework as I could find. Once paint dries, they come off quite easily, leaving me with bare plastic cementing surfaces.

Primed. I wired the upper trusswork to the lower while I cemented intermediate pieces in to ensure they ended in the correct place. Thin copper wire through the forward wing attachment holes, then twisted to snug things together.

PVA removed...

Bill Only the Kit hit the west coast of the US. I think a lot of folks in North America are waiting for the after market items to show up. Also the concept book to. Also a lot of the retail outlets don't have them in stock yet.

Cheers

I read through seiran01's Post today.

I'm going to install the nose gear PRIOR to installing the engines and cementing the upper fuselage frame. Much easier access to attachment points if assembled out of order...

An FYI - The tires are not "Continental"; they are "OONINENTAL" - a similar strategy to the "GOODYEARN" AM tires I've seen. Smart!

Out of interest, where do you think AM goodies might be required ? The kit looks pretty comprehensive as is !

Following this one Bill.

Hubert,

As far as AM goes, I might opt for the weighted tires and turned barrels. I've never been a fan of painting pilots - maybe that's from my attempts on the Revell pilots of old. Personally, I don't care much for PE instrument panels; to me they look too two-dimensional. The cockpit on this thing is very small. I'm going to give it a go with the IM parts and see how they work out, although I wish ZM used the film sandwich approach. I do, however, like the PE for the air brakes. You should seriously consider AM seat belts, though!
