This is NOT the old Hasegawa s kit with all raised panel lines.

This is the revised edition including new wings with engraved panel lines.

That is, this Spitfire is a hybrid kit with old and raised panel lines on the fuselage and engraved panel lines on the wings.

Looks like the 5516 kit you were after Bill

:)

I bought this about eight or ten years ago from Great Models Webstore.

Box still looks pretty young :)

I thought this model had rested enough in my portfolio and decided to start

But your post title says MkV

Yes this will be finished as Mk.Va..

There are 3 major differences between MkI/II and V ( oil cooler, ailerons and wing armament if this is MkVb)

No need to change wing armament because of the A wing.

And most critical issue no need to modifiy oil cooler under the wing. (This has already Mk.V oil cooler.)

In fact, Hasegawa s MkI and II oil cooler is not accurate. This is late style (Mk.V) oil cooler. So if you want to built a MkI or II you have to backdate this part.

And finally Hasegawa s ailerons looks like more metal than the fabric.
