Plus, add to the fact that these aircraft did not spend all their time at high altitude escorting bombers.  When their escort duties were finished, they would cut loose and go low and "shoot-em-up"  German targets all over Western Europe.  US tankers did the same thing to the white stars on their vehicles (Shermans are the primary example here).  They overpainted the white stars with fresh OD (I also seem to remember black being used but I may be mistaken on that) to reduce visibility from German anti-tank guns and tanks since their guns could cook a Sherman at 2000 meters (or more) and the white star was extremely visible from those distances.

GBP 36.99 = $48.85 USD at today's exchange rate.

I'll really never understand why anyone buys from Hannants.  Almost everything they've got is available somewhere else, usually for a lot less money.

True, have used them occasionally but would prefer to give my money to a smaller business whom probably get stock from them at trade anyway, so every one wins really, Hannants do have some amazing stock though and will use them if my search yields no results for what I want.

And in fairness to Hannants they do have good customer service, in the rare occasion something goes wrong they go the extra mile to make it right, at least in my experience.

Work so far is good. Liking this one a lot.

Scheme will now be LOU IV, as I was sent the kit decals to use. Would still rather have done something from the EagleCals sheet.

Looks good James, going to be in for a couple of these at least, so many schemes to be done and that's after owning 2 of the Tamiya kits already.

A 1/32 Mustang is a nice size that I can find plenty of display room for.

Kits yes, but accessories are generally reasonably priced plus they have very good coverage, live stock and hands down the best website for searching stuff.

But I take your point.

Can’t remember the last time I ordered a kit from them.

Gee, it looks like a P-51D. Imagine that.

Well, you gotta figure that after 60+ years in the business they had to have learned something.

Now if they can only come out with the Dornier Do.17, 215 and 217 series of kits in 1/32.

That would be something that I could get excited about.

Sorry fellas, I do not mean to rain on anyone's parade but it is hard to get all worked up over a P-51 kit when I have so many built ones in the completed stash.

I cannot get upset at Revell considering how many kits they have presented us of aircraft that have not been kitted before.

Someday there will appear 1/32 kits of the Dornier bomber and the Kate and the Val. Someday.

Keep the faith baby.  :punk:

I hear ya, would love those kits you mentioned to appear, but since my switch from 1/48 to 1/32 focus I've not built any 1/32 Mustangs yet and do have 2 Tamiya ones in stash (was 3 Tamiya ones until recently) 4 stangs in total is about right for my house and display area planned.

After this project would love to see them do the Mustang B if possible, but failing that, as you say Do.17 and some overdue Kate and Val subjects too, that would be fantastic new from Revell.

It may seem sketchy to you, but that's why it was done.  Aluminum isn't nearly as spectrally vibrant as pure white is.  The white stars and bars were visible miles away.

Unless it catches the sun what could be better camo than a finish that reflects the color of the clouds and sky???

Be that as it may, the insignias were greyed out for camouflage effect, whether you like it or not.

My eyes. A reflective surface can match any surrounding color. Paint can't.
