LSP_Matt
Hi guys...thought I would post a couple of photos of a Revell Dr 1 that my friends son ( Jamie) and I have been building. He developed a great deal of interest in the Red Baron when that magazine was released that came with parts to build your own huge one ( I think the one young Dan was building...PS hope it's going well). Jamie is a big fan of Lord of the Rings and loves painting up the figures that come with the magazines each month. So his drybrushing skills needed a run on a LSP...Oh...and mum was pretty happy with me for getting him a $40 Revell kit instead of a $1000 kit from a magazine
LSP_Matt
We built it over a few months. He is pretty good for a young chap but I really have to restrain my (LSP induced / genetically induced?) AVS streak and just let him be 9 years old. I still have some of my models from when I was 9. Young Jamies plane is a Mona Lisa compared to F100 pile of disease I have in the toy box. I love how Revell still has the date of mould on the inside of the fuselage. It got me trying to think of 'any' product that is stil being manufactured nowadays that has not changed over that period of time ( decals/box art not withstanding). I thought that alone was pretty amazing. Rocat
LSP_Matt
He stuck a few things on incorrectly but basic errors of assemby are ( as you will see from my 109E post) are not limited to 9 yr olds...and anyway who cares...its big...its Fire Engine Red...he had fun putting it together. LSP_Matt
I purchased one from a Swap and Sell meet at our local model expo in June with the full intention of doing a more detailed one of the Red Baron. With some of the colourful Dr1's that have been done...I think it might be time for the yellow and green version. Jamie did a great job of weathering his engine though he refers to colours like Silver as Mithril and Red as Orcs blood its a different language. It led to a lot of just show me the colour you are talking about. Oh...and I learnt not to wargame with him either...he rigs his teams so I'll be fighting the equivalent of a Division of Jagdtigers whilst I have a company of old Stuart's. Needless to say...I loose often. I managed to pick up a couple of cheap Revell Mk1 Tornados from the expo as well. I gave one to him as his next project. You gotta love him. I'd said how if I was him I'd be doing some googling on the net, a little book research and reading his plans and going through the steps. I get a call the next day asking me about decal placement in the cockpit. Oh well...he's having fun and maybe a future LSPer.

Lancman
Wow that's great work, it's great when the youngsters take an interest in the hobbie "long may it continue" Oh those Revell tornados are a really nice kit, I hope he has lots of fun with it.
