MiG Shenanigans

AARGH!

I was going to post effort number 2 tonight. Its finished in the garage but I snapped off the flipping tail wheel!!

When I reattached it with CA it has fallen inside the fuselage and glued itself somewhere. I have shaken and shaken and poked sticks through every hole in the airframe to no avail.....

Please tell me I am not the only one this happens to.

Anyway tomorrow I shall post my historically accurate Trumpeter MiG 3, built exactly as it was in June 1942 serving with 77 IAP, ten minutes after the pilot, Major KlumsiKoff made a forced landing and snapped the tail wheel.

Does anyone have a spare wheel?

Cheers

Dave

The Trumpeter kit is a beauty. It is lovely to build do do try it. I added the Eduard PE set for the cockpit and some externals such as the radiator vent and wheel cover retraction rods.

Datadecals went on superbly. This plane is featured on Massimos site. Gino built practically the same plane in the gallery, only more expertly. Massimo thinks the spinner was red/white not green/tan as data decals suggest.

Colours are Tamiya desert yellow and xtracrylix interior green over Tamiya light ble lightened and brightened.

I am in a good mood today, so feel free to post all the constructive criticism you like, to help with the next project.

I have been too heavy with the dirt again and the radio was not fitted on this plane, but it was built before I decided on the scheme.

Cheers

Dave

This is nice model Dave.

"White 54" seems to be popular subject, but no wonder as it is surely one of most striking schemes seen on those Mikoyan's fighters. Actually one of my favourites too.

This is fine looking MiG. Paints seem well chosen. Also, I like "loose" way you applied black stripes.

I am sorry I can not help with the tailwheel, but I think you can always try to make some "field tailwheel modification" and choose something similar (even from any old 1/72 or 1/48 kit).

Glad you posted pictures. Now I have a reason to buy another MiG-3...

Hey you Dave!!! :o

Very nice MiG-3 mate...I also like the color scheme.

About tailwheel, haha, mine was broken too and seem to be at same place...but I don't use superglue yet. B)

Well...turn to my build line.

Cheers.

Hi Dave;

What an awesome Scheme! Beautiful model mate!

And no, your not the only guy that has stuff fall inside the fuselage and glue itself in. I do it all the time. I wish I didnt though

Cheers mate,

Jay
