First ever rivet job! Figured with it being beaten up and worn then the rivets would really show through and the photos show it.

RB Rivet wheel, lovely bit of kit. pretty happy with my first go.

Decided against the Eduard PE instruments and went with the kit piece. The nice deep and detailed moulding made the painting fairly straightforward.

Oil dot filtering for the start of the pit weathering

O8VcD4Z.jpg

Seat chipped and then oils and paint for the seat

Instrument panel in place for a overall view of how its coming together

Engine assembled and painted. Still needs weathering.

Added Kristal Klear to dials

And next day after 24hrs

UyeZ3nn.jpg

Build night at my local club so took the oils and the pit and added some more weathering. Titanium white and thinners to try and replicate that nice worn out look.

Instrument panel got the same to blend it with the rest of the pit

Quickboost exhausts

BqW2Qay.jpg

Installed

C3h5mql.jpg

Gun covers installed onto lower wing. As per the norm needed 2 sides with a strip of plastic card to fill the gaps.

CWUzz9B.jpg

Painted the undercarriage bay. Looks mint in real life, crap in the photo!

S6jqlzU.jpg

Riveted the bottom wing section. Getting more confident with this now.

3TaeAzD.jpg

And started work on the metal engine cover. Needs some more work though.

u7n3weJ.jpg

And finally fitted the pit to one side of the fuselage. I had quite a bend in the canopy cover so had to work my way along with the glue before locating the bottom clip in place.

So after a review of the situation I wasnt overly happy with the metal cowling. Sanded back, and resprayed again, with Alclad.

mjsXdSD.jpg

Much happier now!

Wanting to get the fuselage halves together so made up a set of Radu's seatbelts

4hcmHtx.jpg

And installed along with the seat

DsItfVT.jpg

Fuselage joined I riveted it. Glad I started with the wings first as the tighter curves were not as easy

taLPRMn.jpg

But for a first timer I'm happy with the outcome

h8Mt0kL.jpg

Split the tail rudders from the tail and sanded, glued and riveted. The pics shown them drooped so wanted the same effect.

DClXYd7.jpg

Plenty of test fitting and a shim is needed at the front to get the cowling to fit properly

Z95yDYe.jpg

Also a small one at the back of the lower wing/fuselage section

EJqZbX5.jpg

Bit of weathering inside the undercarriage bay

umk86Oo.jpg

And tail planes installed

Nearly ready for paint!

Painted the engine cowling. Working with the photos and best guess going with rlm02 and rlm75

RAsU3pm.jpg

RX5PVcJ.jpg

Putty done with torn masking tape and then light overspray. Custom mix of USAF F4 grey and rlm02 dab of this dab of that!

Mr Paint rlm75 for the front cowling then rlm02 for the very front ring.

Change of mind with the colours, RLM83 and RLM74 with RLM02

Re-painted the RLM75 on the front cowling 83 over 76 and much happier with the look

Before adding the JG4 defence band. I've kept this on the light and dirty side because I need to overspray it and don't want to have too much build up to cover.

Couldn't help but pop the front on to see the overall
