Hello ,

after 1,5 month of fun with this kit I would like to show my finished Bf-109 E-4 flown by German ace Major Helmut Wick in 1940.

The kit is not perfekt and some small fit problems had to be solved , for example the oil cooler and the fit of the engine cowling.

But nothing too serious and in my opinion still the best kit to build an acurate Emil.

Hope you like it.

Extremely impressive Peter, how did you achieve the mottling?

Hi Kagemusha ,

The mottling was done with the sponge methode. I took a small part of the foam/sponge that comes with the Aires Cockpit set to do it.

Just dipped it in RLM71 , pressed the sponge into a piece of kitchen roll until most of the paint is removed ( like drybushing ) and dab the sponge on the model.

Believe me that I have tried that several time on some spare plastic parts before I was brave enough to do it on my model :).

Beautiful work!  Only critique I have is you have your aileron mass balance and pitot tube locations mixed up.  Move the mass balances to the ailerons and the pitot tube to the wing and you're good to go.

Hello Mikester ,

That's the great thing in a forum like this.

Many thanks for giving me a hint with this mistake of mine.

It will be easy to correct it and I hope that will be the only fault on my Emil.
