Eindecker Metal Work

Recommended Posts

I've been working on an easy way to simulate the appearance of this metal work in scale.

After trying to brush paint, mask, and even pigment work I happened upon this.

Magic marker over Alclad aluminum with a final veil coat of aluminum to tone it down.

My marker work is a bit over scale as all I had was one of the larger pens, but a thinner marker would look the part.

I hope others find this useful.

Thanks Harv, I forgot to mention I sealed the pen work with some light coats of MM Metalizer sealer with no ill effects over the ink.

One thing I was worried about twas the ink reacting with the lacquer, but all was well.

Stunning result of a great idea - thanks for posting!!! What kind of marker is that "magic marker"?

My brief search for it turned up empty, at least overhere. Thanks.

Wow, great result! I would have never guessed it was a black marker, and would have thought it was silver for sure.  Great technique, thanks for sharing, as I might have to try this for my eventual Taube

Its a black pen over the Alclad aluminum and then a mist coat of Alclad to tone down the black pen into the aluminum.

Wow ! I'd never thought it was black either... It works nicely anyhow !

Yes thanks guys, when you first start drawing the pattern you will think you made a huge mistake, but the post mist of aluminum snaps it into shape.

Exactly what I was thinking! Ill have to try this
