OK - thinking aloud...

I'd like to propose that we have an award for the best model on display in the 'theme' section of our stand.

I think I have something suitable as an annual trophy - to be awarded annually to the winner and re-awarded in subsequent years. This would include an engraved plate with winners names.

Winner would also be awarded a prize to keep - kit, or vouchers.

Judging would be by visitors to the stand - i.e. General Public and not members of 32SIG/LSP.

My thinking is it may encourage more to display - and act as a great audience participation tool (one of the things the 'Best Stand' judges are looking for...)

Anyone like this idea - or are we better just having informal display?

Judging by public - or other suggestions?

I think it's a brilliant idea and the visiting members of the public/ - mostly they are inevitably modelers ; or have interest in Aviation; would feel as if they contributed to judging in a way.

A trophy and a plaque with the winners name would be lovely gesture.

They could keep the plaque with detail of their own but after a year return the trophy for next winner that would be picked and so on.

It definitely would make their trip worthwhile having contributed to judging the BEST MODEL.

Go for it Iain... those on the stand are exempt from voting so it's all fair and above board..

Power to 32SIG

A public vote would be a great idea almost a mini comp if you will.

As a by product it will encourage us to maintain standards of building (not that they are low anyway) and will provide a steady throughput of new builds on the stand.

Great idea.

Those that vote for the model that wins 'visitors choice' could also be entered into a draw - I have a number of spare 1:32 Revell gliders of various flavours...

Too complex? Or useful incentive to get people to engage?

RoyBoy - we discussed comp idea very briefly @ Telford - what are your thoughts?

Not complex.
Gets folk motivated.
Has people getting interested in 32nd Scale.
More publicity and enthusiasm grows.

Kids can vote too along with adults so they get interested in joining the Hobby.

Just MY random thoughts.

I think the idea is a good one as it engages the public if they are given the vote of their choice.

'Win a kit if you vote' would be very popular with the punters!

Winner could be pulled from a hat of the most popular model chosen over the weekend.

Who would admin the competition though?

Just a thought.

Am sure we could manage between members of the team...

If each model 'Title Card' has a number - and we have a stash of pencils and paper strips behind stand, then whoever is on stand at any particular time can engage/hand out.

Visitors write a number - and email address if we decide on raffle prize - and pop in suitable box (and return pencil  :) ).

At 3pm on the Sunday we add up results...

As said - just a thought at the mo - but might be a nice way of upping engagement.

Liking this idea Iain - what’s a little competition between friends eh? Public vote’s a good way to go too... sounds like fun. I’ll just have to finish something by next year now!
