F3F-3 WINGS looking for plans

hi i know someone figured out where to cut Monogram wings for proper span, but i can't find it.

Glen,

Here is some info I had stashed away on the F3F from Wayne Tevlin of Yellow-Wings decals:

The final determination then is that the wing extension is exactly three rib spaces longer on each side. This is for both the top and bottom wings. Each bottom wing is three (3) spaces longer in span, and the top wing is six (6) spaces longer in span. That’s three (3) spaces on each side of the center line of the fuselage. The extension is inboard of both of the struts and the ailerons. Because the spaces are slightly different for the top and bottom wings, a new fastening point for the wing struts on the bottom wing will have to be fashioned, slightly more inboard than where the dimples fall on the stock pieces. This is to keep the same wing gap.

There are some other accuracy issues with this kit, but none quite so pronounced as the wing span problem. A careful comparison with the Accurate Miniatures kit will show it all.

There was also a thread last year with some pictographic info and more:

FWIW Monogram's kit is of the Gulfhawk flown by Al Williams for Gulf Oil. IIRC Grumman modified a production F3F for Al.

Just to avoid any misunderstanding: Monogram released two distinct kits, one of Al Williams's 'Gulfhawk II', which was custom built by Grumman as an F2F/F3F hybrid, and another of an F3F-3 ... but they didn't lengthen the Gulfhawk's F2F wings to correctly represent those of an F3F. The F3F kit's cowling does differ from that of the Gulfhawk kit, however.

After adding these red numbers to help me count wing ribs, I realized that some of you might find them useful, too:

Any corrections or difference of opinion would be appreciated. The photo is a cropped version of one that Rato posted on the thread to which Gary provided a link above.

I pulled my kit out of the ever increasing to do pile and found an old Aero Modeler that featured and article on the Grumman Gulfhawk. Here is a portion of the drawings that show the wing top view, hopefully with enough clarity. Note the left side is the Gulfhawk and the right side is the F3F-2.

I was hoping that there might be some difference, as you stated regarding the cowling. I'm thinking a list of changes would be great, sort of a "punch list". Maybe what I should do is find another kit, and just fool with the wings, and cast some, and then go from there.
