Here's a link for you.  This is part 2 of FW 190 development.

I don't know much about the kit.  But to go from and A-8 to an A-9 you'll need at the least a 14-bladed engine fan, and a broader bladed propeller.  Also the engine cowling of the A-9 was longer than the A-8.

Hi Guys,  There is confusion about the differences between the Fw 190 A-8, F-8 , F-9 and A-9. To convert the F-8 to an A-8, convert the outboard panel with the ETC 50 bomb racks to the A-8 style panels with the ejection ports. There were some late war A-8s and A-9s that did have the outboard guns deleted. The A-9 is the same as an A-8 except when the upgraded, more powerful BMW TS or TH motor was installed to the airframe it becomes an A-9 (Focke -Wulf 190 A-8 manual). With that motor a new thicker 10 mm armored cowl ring replaced the previous 6 mm ring. However some late A-8s with the standard BMW 801 D-2 motor were upgraded with the 10 mm ring. Initially a new 14 bladed cooling fan replaced the 12 bladed fan but because of the heavier weight of the extra blades it proved to be counter productive. It was found the 14 bladed fan actually caused a reduction of top speed and a directive was issued to immediately go back to the 12 bladed fan starting with ground attack Fw 190s. The propeller and canopy has nothing to do with the sub-types. The were installed as they became available. The overall length of the A-9, F-9 remained the same as the A-8, F-8 ; 8,95 m (29' 41/2"). There is only one sure way to tell the difference between an A-8 and an A-9, that is the Werknummer.

     Cheers, Jerry

Thank you for your response Jerry. It is much appreciated.

The aircraft I was wanting to build was in the Classic Publications book "Gotterdammerung" on page 47.

It is a I./JG 301 bird number blak 4> There is no Werknummer visible. I don't know if you might have any other information on this aircraft.

Hi Jim, Unfortunately, the W.Nr. is unknown so it's impossible to know the actual sub-type. It had been in service with JG 11 before coming to JG 301. You can tell that by the yellow band at the rear, JG 11's color, then when it came to JG 301 they simply added the red band in front, which was the easiest to do. It does have a 10 mm cowl ring but a 12 bladed cooling fan with the common VDM 9-12067 A  3.300 mm metal prop. I kind of doubt it's an A-9, I think it's a late A-8. Maybe some day a photo showing the W.Nr. will show up and then we'll know for sure .

     Cheers, Jerry

All you need is the A-9 conversion set from Henri Dähne and decals from EagleCals. Both are for the Hasegawa kit.

Sorry I had a problem with my original attempt to post

What I meant to say was that I don't think the F-8 has the correct underwing parts / panels to make an aircraft with outboard wing armament, so unless you know the aircraft you want to make is an A-8 without these, it's a no go
