Radub
Yes indeed. It is the best Hurricane in any scale. Now, if only they scaled it down to 1/32, wouldn't that be great? Radu Another pure gem of a kit I need to get my teeth into.
Hacker
l got the Airfix one and its nothing to sneeze at either. Though l have not seen the Trumpeter kit l still like mine
Radub
The Airfix Hurricane is very wrong in many places. The cockpit is bad, but the wheel well is completely and utterly spurious. The rear fuselage from the cockpit to the tail extremely wrong in profile and plan view and has a "keeled" bottom. I have two Airfix Hurricanes. I also have the Trumpeter Hurricane. Comparing the two is like comparing a Rolls Royce to an Austin Allegro. I love the Hurricane and I sepnt some time studying it in detail. Radu l do not doubt your words or your knowledge and l know them too but then again l go by if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and looks like a duck then its a duck in other words it looks very much like a hurricane despite its short comings so thats good enough for me. Unfortunately it does not qualify for this build so its an non issue here.

LSP_Matt
Its duck season over here! I have a few of these Hurricanes. I wanted to build this one pretty much OOB and then use the PE set on the next one. At least that way I'll have a baseline to compare with when it comes to fit etc. I agree though...scaled down to 1/32 it'd have to be a winner kit. I did see some AussieDecals in 1/24th for this beast but at $35Au they seemed a little too spendy for my wallet to be happy.(15-> under 20 I'd have maybe gone for it) Besides Stanford Tucks plane is pretty cool. I also have one or two of the Airfix kits I brought cheap of Ebay...I enjoyed making that kit years ago so no doubt will still enjoy making it again one day. LSP_Matt
OK photo time. All the parts go together beautifully. The inside of the wings can be a bit of a waste if you plan on sealing things up...I enjoyed knowing and building whats under the wing skin though. My next Hurricane will have the trumpeter PE in it. I wanted to try OOB first as a kind of baseline to make any assesments of the PE more credible. Cheers Matty PS comments welcomed of course. LSP_Kevin
Wow Matty, you've really stormed back with a vengeance! I'm really impressed with the work I see here. Your weathering and shading on the interior parts is masterful. Kev
vvwse4
You are on the fast track with this one!!! Looks good Rick.
LSP_Matt
Kev...you're too kind. Rick...fast track for sure. Today I have already sealed up the fusleage, wings are on and I have already painted the lower surfaces. I took off some of the wash on the control stick and on the floor. I also used Radu's R10 flipper on the PE map holder...man that tool makes bending PE easy. All in all this is one of the nicest kits i've ever built.
