b737flyer
Haven't had a chance to make any updates lately, but progress has been made! And there's really no comparison between the kit part and the BarracudaCast spinner and prop... b737flyer
So after sitting on the shelf of doom for the last three years, I decided to finish this one up. I changed my mind on the paint scheme I had originally planned and was finally able to get the painting process started. Guest Vincent
Hi. Just noticed that the position of the lower radiator flaps is incorrect : when the main flaps are lowered, the lower radiator flap is slaved to it and is lowered at the same angle
b737flyer
Thanks - I'll make the adjustment. I had them cemented at the same angle as the wing flaps and over time (due to handling?) they have closed up.
b737flyer
I was able to get the basic camouflage colors airbrushed over the last couple of days. I used Mr. Color RLM 74/75/76 thinned with Mr. Levelling Thinner. I'll do some mottling next followed by markings that will be airbrushed using stencils. b737flyer
I airbrushed some markings this morning using masks cut with a Silhouette Cameo craft cutter. I also sprayed a white base coat for the yellow/red fuselage band. After taking these photos I realized I hadn't taken any photos of the fuselage mottling. What you see here is actually my second attempt - I wasn't happy with the first application so I tried it again (after overspraying them with RLM 76) and am happier with the results. b737flyer
More markings airbrushed using stencils cut from a Silhouette Cameo 4 craft cutter. I used Mr. Paint and Mr. Color lacquers with a couple hours of drying time in between colors. nmayhew, LSP_Kevin, Landrotten Highlander and 3 others
b737flyer
Having more fun with masks...I found a shared file on Scale Model Paint Masks for the Bf 109 leading edge scallops and thought I would give it a go. Blu-tak was placed under the masks for a feathered edge when airbrushing. Overall I was happy with the results. LSP_Kevin
Great work, Jeremy! Glad to hear that you were able to find what you needed on SMPM, too. Kev b737flyer
b737flyer
I posted the same photos earlier today on my FB page and a fellow modeler pointed out that I had the scallops reversed and a little too high up on the leading edge. So, because it would have driven me nuts, I repainted them. Troy Molitor
Practice make perfect on the wing scallops. Looking real nice on the second attempt. I also like your choice in markings.
