in progress shot the cockpit is done I also have glued the intakes on I had a set of the old CE the one without being attached to the intake trunk but in the end I used the kits intakes and got a set of intake baffles doors from Harold at AMS. The macro pictures are merciless at normal viewing distances the pit looks quite good

Looks good mate! I know what you mean about that macro setting... What are you planning to do about the seats?

Seats are from Cutting edge the seats from tamiya leave a bit to be desired. I also have cam burner cans. Next up is the alclad for the shiney bits and getting the remainder of the fuselage buttoned up. Thanks all for the kind words. No more macro shots I will leave those to Pierre the phantom fixer....

Looking great Dashotgun! Just got this kit in the mail, and pondering building it next. I want to build mine as an 'S', so I'm going to have to scratch up some slats, and stuff. Read where the seats aren't so hot, so I ordered some True Details replacements. Not sure how good they are, but we'll see.

Anyway, wanted to ask about the 'battle patches'. Are all the panels that are standing proud of the fuse those patches? hmmm, if they are, I can see it would be a bear to get them sanded down. Following this build with much interest as I plan on starting on mine in the near future. Cockpit turned out great! I always have pilots in my builds, so I'm not splurging on a resin replacement pit. Just can't see too much when it's occupied.

Looking GOOD! Later, Russ

most people think when tamiya did the research that they modeled it after an airframe that had some battle damage patches I have also heard that is not true but the panels are there but do stand proud a bit to much. This is a quicker build ( I hope) so I elected to leave them as is. I agree about the pit. The most prominent thing you see is the bang seats so I got a set of those I thought the cockpit painted up nicely. I have decided not to attempt museum pieces and enjoy so I am getting selective about the resin I buy

Hi Dashotgun....

How goes the Rhino? Any progress to share with us?

I've been meaning to ask if you plan to use the full Hobbydecal set for all of the markings? I used them last year when I did mine and was thrilled with the results. Well worth the extra effort to learn the whole dry-transfer thing.
