Jack
Alan, Did you ever try and look for balsa beams in hobby stores where they sell radio controlled models? To get big blocks of balsa wood might be a problem but glueing together a couple of beams by means of white glue gives you any size of good carveble "blocks" to use as moulds and such. I did the same thing with my Mohawk. take care, Jack.

Greg Springer
Hi Alan, "Bass wood" is an American term for two kinds of wood. One is poplar. The kind you want for carving is linden wood. As in Unter den Linden. It should be easily available in Europe. I used to work with a guy who carved duck decoys from it. IHTH! Greg
