You're too humble mate, I obviously need to practise more!

Kev

I will take a look, if i can make a video of the WIP regarding this technique. It's not really easy to explain in word's and photo's. Moving images will explain much more. When i have the time i soon will make one.

Danny, stunning is the only comment that comes to mind.........

Sometime when I am really really brave I'll have a go at WnW............

Thank's Phil for the nice comment. :speak_cool:

Just tackle one, those WNW kit's are jewels.

Very, very nice woodgraining technique Danny and thank you for sharing. Your cockpit will be stunning when it comes together.

Regards. Andy

Thank's Andy :speak_cool:

Ok guy's time to show you some more WIP photo's.

The oil paint is completely dried, so time to paint some details and put the cockpit together.

First thing to do, glue the cockpit floor to the ammunition locker.

Here you see the difference of color in the wood grain pattern.

I decided to keep the fuel lines, which where running along the bulkhead under the IP. I painted the fuel lines and other details with Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics.

Radiator, pilot's seat and pilot's locker where also glued.

Rudder pedals, painted and glued to the cockpit floor.

Instrument panel, details painted and added some decals.

Finally, gunner section glued to the pilot's cockpit section.

Danny my friend, SUPERB!

Are you using a drying addon for the oils? I use blitzdry from uschi and it works a treat. Cuts down the drying time to overnight on the oils. The wood graining is really spot on. Any clear coat to the woodwork or clear yellow/orange?

Thanks for the wonderful update buddy!

Karim, thank's for the nice comment my friend. :speak_cool:

I don't use drying additives in my oil's. In this case, the part's that are done with oils must dry for over a week before they can be further painted or glued, a long time isn't it.

You gave me a good idea now my friend, i think i will buy that Blitzdry additive from Ushi.

Normally i will put a mat clear coat over the wood work, but at the moment the photo's where taken i didn't used one yet on the part's.

With pleasure my friend, :)

Danny,

Your variable wood graining is just spot on. Nice work on the pit so far. Looking forward to your next update.

Danny, she's looking fantastic so far. The wood graining looks perfect. I'm surprised though that you would overspray the woodwork with a clear flat. Wouldn't that take away from the look of the richness of the woodwork? I'd be far more inclined to go with a semi-gloss finish but I'm only asking as I've never done a woodgrain finish with oils before. I'm about to though on my Camel build.

Cheers,

Wolf

Thank's Wolf. :speak_cool:

Maybe you are right about the flat clear use Wolf, i didn't stoot still by the possibility of the loss of richness in the wood work texture.  I think it's best to do a test before i could ruin the work on the Fee. I will take a look at that possibil problem.

Knock-out woodgrain!!

Thank's Gazzas :speak_cool:

That is outstanding.   Very nicely done!

Thank's Tim. :speak_cool:

I did some more work on the Fee's cockpit section today.

I enclosed the observers and pilot's cockpit into the two wooden frame halves. Also the frontal iron framework was added to the observers section. Fuel tank and control column also.
