  1. Thanks Dave, I just knew that you were going to say that That's cool I have the perfect reference here Mal
  2. Dave, I have been watching this with great admiration wonderful painting, I'm looking forward to seeing this completed. One question, I have seperated the rudder and elevators on my D-9, as I see that you have on this beaut Is there anything that I need to watch out for? well 2 questions then, what will you be adding/removing, suplimenting, when refitting? (dumb questions ?) I do have a plan, of sorts, but being new to this 1/32 scale lark I'm thinking that I might need to be doing more than when I've done this in (whispers) 1/48. I'm thinking representation of the hinge areas. Mal
  3. For reference to scratch build a Luftwaffe bomb cart, in 1/24, you could do no better than buy one of Dereks 1/32 kits. I have seen it in resin and it's stunning (of course) (MDC are, I believe, producing it in metal). It wont be a waste, because you can then use it for the 1/32 stuke, that you are bound to do Mal
  4. Hi Gary, I can't give you any primary source reference but for an early Mk Spitfire I would go with interior green. I should add that it was very unusual to see a Spitfire with the flaps down. They were either up or down with no settings in between. Apparently pilots would get fined if they left the flaps lowered after landing, this alone probably means that, even if they were left lowered, the pilot would get a bollocking, fined then be sent back to his aircraft to raise the flaps. Of course you will probably find pictures of Spitfires with their flaps lowered, but possibly only for maintenance. I must also state that this is "my" understanding of the situation regarding the flaps on an early Mk (probably all) Spitfire. Having said that the choice is, of course, yours Looking forward to seeing this, I have the kit in my stash Mal
  5. As always Derek, stunning, I'm loving every picture. Your work is inspirational, to say the least I don't suppose that you will be taking a break from this and visiting the Aeroventure show on Sunday We will have cakes at the IPMS-UK Kitmaker stand Mal
  6. Hi Derek, I feel privilaged to have seen these in the flesh and I'm delighted to be able to follow there progress here. The moving of the radiators shows your attention to detail. Stunning work as always. Mal
  7. Thanks Jerry, that would explain why the other (1/48) 190's I have are sporting different styles. So are you saying that you will be able to tell me which style my 190 had, when I get around to choosing the scheme (sorry couldn't resist ) I wont feel half as bad now when I don't add the rivets to my 190. Although Hockey isn't the Law here I'm with you in spirit and use of time I will be starting a thread on my 190 soon Mal
  8. Like Derek it's Spitfires for me, but the Hurricane has it's own beauty. I have one of these in my stash and I intend to at least detail the cockpit. I will be looking on in eager anticipation to determine whether I will go this far. I'm certainly inspired already as I wouldn't have considered cutting out that much of the gun bay. It makes perfect sense though Mal
  9. Dave this is stunning Sorry but I'm new and a bit late here, but I have a couple of questions because, as you know I've just started a D-9. I'm sorry if these have been asked but I have read most of the this thread and not seen them 1. How the heck did you replicate the flexible part of the brake hoses? They look fantastic. 2. While searching the site to find details to scratch build my lost hatch (Thanks for the offer of a replacement what a great guy ) I saw Fw190's that had had the rivet detail added to the fuselage and wings. The modellers hinted that they wouldn't do it again, as it was a real pain. Are you going to add rivet detail, if so would you like to practice on my D-9 ? Seriously what are your thoughts about adding rivets, as I'm torn which way to go. Done well they will look awsome, but it will be very time consuming and, if I were to start, I would then have to finish. I don't want to put myself off from finishing my D-9 so I think that I won't be adding them, this time. Mal
  10. Watching this with great interest Derek, particularly has I had the privilage of seeing these, and the P-61 foam fuselage, in the flesh If only it was half as easy as you make it look and I know that you are going to say that it is When are you going to do a deatail set for the Matchbox Lysander? Superb stuff Derek. Mal
  11. Wonderful job, I sincerly hope that mine looks half as good, when I get around to building it Can I ask what paints you used and if the cannon barrels are turned ones, If they are which ones? (I believe that there are a couple of choices out there). Thanks. Mal
