A-4 Skyhawk Boarding Ladder - any in 1/32?

I'd take a razor saw to some nice round sprue of the correct diameter for the wheels.

The same crazy multiple folds happens in some cockpit etch for lever knobs and central point buckles and they always make laugh, like the designer is having a little joke.

What the Trumpeter kit needs most - given what's available - is a bronze cast NLG leg and separate resin nosewheel. The Aires set is leg only and of unknown quality (to me), and the SAC set with wheel is the usual unsuitable Soft & Cr@pp¥ alloy.

That and the kinked IFR probe. I've raided a discarded Hasegawa Scooter for those items but there must be a market for them.

I didn't mean to hijack this thread Steve, but thought ladders options had been explored fully already so was asking, in a round about way as an add on, if anyone can vouch for the quality of the alloy in the A-4 NLG leg in the Aires set - anyone know?

I wasn't aware Harold was casting probes and wheels. He does fantastic castings but it's f****ing expensive buying any of it from the States ($26 to buy and have sent some RF-4 Photoflash ports which could fit in a cigarette box) especially at the post Brexit $1.22 to the Pound PayPal conversion rate. A European distributor who stocks most of the range is really desperately needed.

Thanks. Missed finding those. That ProfiModeller one looks a bit too complicated for me (especially layering all those PE discs for each wheel)

It is complicated...and a challenge to assemble. As you can see, I didn't get very far at all on mine!

The ladder (along with the model it was meant to compliment) was shelved two years ago when another project (the EA-6A) took its place on the workbench.

As you can see, the set is very detailed. In my opinion though, it's almost too complex and intricate. Perhaps if I were more adept at folding and gluing together small photo-etched parts...

When I do resume work on the Skyhawk, I'll re-attempt the ladder, perhaps substituting plastic bar stock for the large uprights (the kit parts proved difficult to fold) while retaining some of the smaller brass pieces (tread plate, height-adjustable wheeled feet, etc.) for detail. We'll see... :)

I noticed the pictures on ProfiModeller site are kind of small. Here's a better shot of the kit's contents...
