A warning, he is still selling them. He has one currently listed for buy it now $9.99.

I looked at his completed auctions, he sold 40 of these kits.

There is a fee for refunds. I know I did a paypal refund once for an item I didn't receive. At that time (3 or 4 years ago), the fee was a percentage of the sale or a flat rate, depending on the total amount paid, I paid around $8.00.

I bought two of them for that price.

You would think that some people who have ordered the kits from him would have received them by now and left negative feedback for him. I'm sure more people have bought from him than just those of us on the forum.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I won't be disappointed if I receive some USB cables or similar. After all I will get my money back.

I totally passed up on the opportunity and purchased one from Tokyo Hobby for $104.00. I had more than one opportunity to buy from this seller but I didn't like the smell of it.

Absolutely, I have had mine for at least 2 weeks now and got it for £107 that exchange rate might be even cheaper than you got yours for my friend, even posted a pic of my purchase in the LSP traditional make others jealous thread ... that's good natured stuff though :)

I'd have chanced my luck with that seller if I'd had the opportunity to do so, at the end of the day for what we modellers spend it was nothing what Jennings and others did ... last weekend after a concert my friends and I went to a Casino in Glasgow, first time ever for me, now there I saw some serious frittering away of money, it really was a mind opener, to come back here and see some some anti fellow modeller comments threw me and upset me for a bit, some were taking corporations side ... can see where they are coming from, but still think it was not needed, it would be just as easy to say, bad luck guys, was rooting for you ... but no :(

The ironic thing is they wont lose, might take a little time to get cash back, but so what? I'd still have done it if I had the chance, and you know what, for those that feel for big corporations like Paypal/Ebay minuscule loss over fellow modellers here on a close knit site like this, fair play if that's the way you think, but I know where my loyalty's are :) Paypal and Ebay make obscene profits already and micro transactions like this are already factored into their profit/loss margins.

It really is odd though, none of the guys here who went for this obvious little flutter of a gamble are complaining, its the ones who never who are more outraged ... most odd :)

So rather than wading through the 14 pages of this what's the final count? How many ordered these cheap kits off eBay? How many received the order, and what was in the box?

I'd guess that several people ordered them, everybody either got or will get a box with probably a USB cable or similar.

Your currency converter is out of whack. I've had my Corsairs for 3 weeks. 😮

Well, I beg to differ. A lot of people tried to politely steer people away from this/ these auctions. There was nothing malicious in our intent. We were looking out for our fellow modelers and friends. None of us are laughing at them. I must have missed some posts, because I didn't see any outrage.

You can lose on eBay with refunds. There is a fee for getting a refund, as well, I think buyers are limited to three refunds a year. So there are risks.

This seller was also all over the place with his pricing. He had crazy amounts for shipping that some may not have noticed. One auction was $25 shipping, another was $169 shipping. At one time eBay didn't refund shipping amounts. I don't know if that is still the case.

The most alarming thing about this auction is it had a lot of warning signs. The selling amounts were unprecedented, where can anyone find a 1/32 Tamiya kit for $9.99?

I love Glasgow, I'm Canadian but my parents are both from Scotland. My mom is from Glasgow, my dad Edinburgh.

If you go to the sellers auctions and click on completed auctions I count 40 in total 1/32 Tamiya F4U-1Ds sold (some of the auctions are multiples of ten).

I pre-ordered from Tokyo Hobby and received my shipping notice the same day Jennings received his shipping notice. I've had my kits 3 weeks.

No one has posted they received a kit.

No feedback has been given for any Tamiya Corsair purchases. Occasionally scammers do have fake bids/purchases on their account along with fake feedback from those accounts.

eBay does charge a fee for refunds, I received a refund for a decal sheet I didn't receive once and the fee was equal to what I paid ($8.00). At that time I noticed buyers are only permitted three refunds a year.

Yes, I was wondering if the high shipping was a scam to only refund that small amount and keep the money made off the shipping charge, but ebay's policy does state that the seller must refund the original shipping as well.

So what is this guy's game?

I think he is trying to time it out, but I doubt he will get the claims past 180 days. I noticed some estimated delivery days are in late December.

He obviously has a scheme, high volume sales in a short period of time with a long delay on the shipping. This way the payment clears to his account.

But the money is in his account. He might be just taking the money and running with no way for PayPal and eBay to recover.

Buyers will get a full refund minus the administrative fees. I don't know what they are now, I only used the refund system once. Times have changed.

Hi Jennings, you pretty well summed it up. As they say, " nothing ventured, nothing gained". That's exactly why I took the plunge as well. At least we'll get our money back.
