Thanks guys.. just a small update today. After working on that big wing I needed a break by working on some smaller stuff, so I started on the cockpit area. After doing a lot of hunting around it seems from the available info that the one thing the Revell kit got very close to being right was the cockpit ! Checking it against the wonderful shots of the full sized filming prop on starshipmodeler it's pretty much bang on.

Everything was built up from .020 sheet..

The bottles were made from different sized sprue.

That's it for this time. More in a few days.

Cheers

Vaughn

NICE! Im not much into Sci-Fi, but this is a fanTASTIC build! Another one to show off your Talents Vaughn. I went back and re-read the whole thing. I hope to take some valuable skills away from this build!

Thanks..the bits on the end were the remains of the stub that went to the kit part..just some careful sanding and the sprue became a gas bottle. It was fun to do.

So, back to the big parts... I made the bottom wing, the front inner root curves upwards.....I cut scrap sheet to add the material to make the curve and bent the skin to shape.

To support the wing as it just butts up against the fuselage I made a box spar to run through the fuse.

and with the top wing positioned.. it looked pretty good.

At this point I realized I had to start gluing things together...So, made the second lower wing, and jigged everything and the glue started to flow !!

Everything lined up pretty well.....

All of a sudden it's starting to look like a Starfury...
