A-4 Seamless Intakes

Hey guys, I've got several A-4's in the stash that I want to build but have some questions about seamless intake availability. First can any existing sets be adapted to the Hasagawa 2 seater, specifically a TA-4J and IDF 2 seater. Secondly, which sets would work for an A-4M and IDF A-4N? Many thanks for any advise and help.

The intake parts for the Hasegawa kits are the same in both the single seater and two seater kits. Aftermarket intakes for the Hasegawa A-4 fit all of them.

For the A-4M/N, you need the bulged intakes, however there is no full M/N conversion for the Hasegawa A-4.

The main problem for the Mike/November kits is the lack of a good canopy.

No conversion for the windshield and canopy was ever released for the Hasegawa kit. Some guys retrieved the windshield from the TA-4J and vacformed a larger canopy to build a M/N.

At least Trumpeter released such parts in their M kit but the canopy is not blown enough and noone dared to make an accurate option.

This is the current status.

so there is a further problem of amplitude of the windshield arc on the Trumpeter M kit?

No, that is not my point. The need of a vacformed canopy for a M/N based on the Hasegawa kit is based on the fact none existed in plastic or resin before the arrival of the Trumpeter M kit. The use of the TA-4J windshield was simply motivated by the fact the M/N used the same one.

For the trumpeter kit, the problem essentially lies in the fact the sides of the canopy are not bulged enough. This has nothing to do with the windshield arc.

I have made both bulged intakes with the larger fuselage scoop for both Trumpeter and Hasegawa. AND corrected standard intakes for the Trumpeter kit as well.

Which intakes would be right for the Hasagawa OA-4M, the enlarged ones? Thanks.

Chuck

No, the standard intakes. They retained the P-8 engine of the TA-4Fs they were converted from. Since they weren't meant to be used as bombers, they didn't need the extra power to carry heavy loads.
