LSP_Matt
hi guys, I've been toying with the idea of doing some casting. for two reasons really 1. It looks increasingly like I'll have to make a 'dynamic extention device' for my own bloody arm.( orthotist has strangely little idea of how to generate load on the bit that needs it) 2. I'd like to duplicate some detailed parts I plan on making up. I found this Aussie site and thought their prices seemed pretty reasonable. http://www.armsmodelit.com.au/index.htm Certainly for brass sheeting it did ( I seem to recall it being $12 for one sheet at the local hobby shop) http://www.armsmodelit.com.au/infoshim.htm And also on the Micromesh plastic polishing gear http://www.armsmodelit.com.au/ArmsFinishAcc.htm They have some PDF's on how to cast and it looks pretty good fun once you know what you're doing. My questions would be: >What do you lads think of the prices? >What would some of the 'casters' of LSP recommend for a beginner. eg: Do I need a pressure flask? thanks in advance Matt
Coolie
Youve got me interested just by the fact that there is stuff i have been looking for here! And remind the boys that this is AUD I think the sheeting doesnt sound too bad at all, you might get it cheaper by looking hard but I think I would be happy to pay a little more to get what I'm after
LSP_Matt
Yeah it did look pretty good to me but I'm no experten on this stuff. Freight is not too bad. Given its cheap to send stuff from Aus to US or EU I would imagine it might be a viable option for some of the international chaps...well perhaps? not sure I reckon it looks like quite a bit-o-fun. So far it looks like I'll need Lego blocks RTV clay Resin Release agent Some clay scuplting tools I see some of the RTV's you can pour molten metal into...?Landing gear legs? Hmmm...
