I've been working on this kit on and off for a year now, and I thought I'd give you a couple quick snapshots of what I intend to take with me to the Nats in Nebraska.
I'm aiming for an April completion so I can show it a bit locally before hitting the road. I'm playing with the idea of a water scene, but suddenly I'm not in the mood for that garbage.
These are just a couple shots from when I started this awhile back.

I hope to finish it in time, I think I gave myself plenty of time, but if no Joy, then either the Gotha or something from the cabinet....

It looks brutal, but most of this will be scraped down as it will be hidden behind equipment, so there is little reason to make it perfect. Next, clear orange, then black and gray fittings, then a wash, followed by rigging.

The floors are variations in color as well.
These will be weathered and somewhat salt stained.

Yup. Just looking to do something different than 190s, 109s, and MiG-3s for a change

It's the simplest procedure, Martin.

1. Light color base
2. Future coat
3. Mix artist oil paint to the shade you want, thin with Liquin if you wish, using a stiff, short brush, wipe paint on the surface. Let it sit to stain in for 10-15 min, then using the stiff brush, pull paint off in long strokes. Clean brush, so it again and again till you have the look you want. Use the bristles to give grain effect.
Let dry for a week or two, or till completely dry, then spray Tamiya clear orange or clear yellow or both for warmth..

Looking forward to this one, I'm often tempted but don't think I have the skills to pull one of these builds!!

Peter, we gotta get Martin the ex Soviet spy building WW1 planes. So far, he's built about 17 of every 190 variant ever produced, plus prototypes...
He wants to build 21 of each, in honor of his favorite Soviet fighter, but if we try hard, we may stop him...
