Just a few quick updates, spruced up the pilots seat by adding some leather back padding made from a piece of milliput, and made up some seatbelts from pieces of masking tape. BlueMax Posted March 7, 2008 Share Posted March 7, 2008 Martyn, I'm quite interested in your build, as I also have this same kit waiting - er,ummm... in the wings - so to speak. And I too want to do the same paint scheme that you're planning. To me - at least - it's one of the best looking paint schemes ever used for the Stuka! It's been a good while since I've built a kit of this size so I'm watching as others tackle a project of this calibur, before I jump into mine. I'm hoping I can learn a thing or two along the way. Martyn Posted March 8, 2008 Author Share Posted March 8, 2008 A few more bits and bobs done, I have removed the moulded on mesh screen that fits on the bottom of the engine and fitted some old fine steel screen that I borrowed from work Also added some plumbing to the bulkhead, I have no drawings for this so I have just used a lot of artistic licence. Martyn Posted March 10, 2008 Author Share Posted March 10, 2008 Just a quick update tonight, engine finished just the exhausts to hollow out and fit later on in the build. . Fuselage half's joined together, its only now that I have started to realize how big this damn thing actually is , godness knows where its going to go when I eventually finish her. That engine, firewall and mesh intake look extremely convincing, especially after your weathering wash. Cockpit is absolutely marvelous too. The fuselage joint has being sanded down and now looks ok, starting on the wings next, which means adding a bit more detail in to the gun bay, more pictures to follow shortly. Being working on sprucing up the gun bays, first picture is how they started out, only change is the gun barrel ends have being drilled out. Next stage I added straps on the ammo boxes and ring handles for opening up the lids. Also added some round sprue to simulate compressed air cylinders and some braided wire for feeding the compressed air to the gun firing mechanism.
