Romanian G-2

Sincere thanks for the comments men. I chose the scheme for it's uniqueness
and thot the spinner would be a nice challenge wacko.gif

Radu, the full rudder stripes are the only part I took complete artistic license with.
You're right, the only pics I've seen show either straight camo or all white. I just
thot the full stripes were more appealing and more 'Rumanian' if you know what
I mean. I could not find a photo of 6 which is why I chose that number.

Dave, the tires are simply Gunze Tire Black with some light grey pastels padded
on with a Qtip (cotton swabs).

The yellows look kind of flourescent but that's just my camera I think.

Nice model Mike. I am particularily impressed with the antennae. Wierd thing to stand out yes, but very nicely done. Very real. Everything else is really nice as well. Great scheme.

Cheers,

Jay

Oh stop it Dave ;)

Hi Alan, I'll transcript from another site:

The spinner was quite a project in it's self. First I glued

the backplate on with temporary glue (Microscale Liquitape) then

chucked it in my old dremel and reshaped it to look more pointy

like it should. I drilled out the cannon and replaced it with a piece

of aluminum tubing for the blast tube. I painted the spinner black

enamel so I could remove any booboos I made with the white acrylic

later. I needed veerrry thin strips of tape to conform to the compound

curve ( I used 3M plastic tape, paper tape won't work) so I laid down

2 real thin strips, one for each side of the stripe then brush painted

Aim toothpaste (gel) between them and shot the white. Remove the

tape and rinse what's left with warm tap water and a soft brush and

voila. It worked pretty well and I only had a coupla places that needed

fixing. Then shot it with several coats of MM clear flat and gloss mixed

for a semi gloss sheen and to level things out. Wet sand with 1200 grit,

then a final coat of semi gloss clear. Not really difficult, just tedious.

Thanks Jay, the wire is made from .003" leader tippet material, the stuff

they use to wrap fishing flys with.

Radu, [snip] I could not find a photo of 6 which is why I chose that number.

Here you go Mike. This is from "Aeronautica Romana in al doilea razboi mondial" by C. Craciunoiu and J-L Roba.

I will keep looking, I may find a clearer one.

Hope this helps,

Radu
